how to make my sub folders that i created in favorites show up

I have created sub folders within my favorites but they don't show up when I try to find them. What do i do to correct this? If i want to add another item I can bring up the folder but cannot open it. Should I save my items in documents instead? I save diy items decorating ideas etc

Click on the folder, and the sub folder should show up under it.
