how to clean coo-coo clock chains

the chains on my coo-coo clock are gummy. How to clean them?

Remove the chains from the clock. Put them in a container with warm water and any grease cutting agent. Dish soap is good. Let them set to loosen the oils and dust. Use a soft toothbrush too clean stuck on spots of residue.
