why does my screensaver come on during my photo gallery slideshow?

I saved about 200 vacation photos to my hpenvy and like to try to play a slideshow on my TV. I recently changed my screensaver settings and now during my slideshow after about 1 minute the screensaver eclipses my photo slideshow. Why is this?

The default is 1 minute. Quite likely, when you changed the setting, you left it to the default. You can increase the wait time to a longer interval.
